Solar Heat Technologies

During the period from 1975 to 1986 the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Solar Heat Technologies spent more than $1.1 billion on research, development, demonstration, and technology support projects. The Solar Heat Technologies: Fundamentals and Applications series was conceived in 1982 by Frederick H. Morse, then director of the Office of Solar Heat Technologies, Department of Energy, to provide a thorough technical assessment of the federal program in solar heat technologies, from its inception at the National Science Foundation in the early 1970s through 1988. Leading experts from both the public and private sectors have documented, in detail, the most significant results and findings of the program with the overall goal of providing both a starting point for the new researcher and a reference tool for the experienced worker and manager.
