Neurology & Clinical Neurophysiology, the official journal of the American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology (AACN), is an electronic peer reviewed journal publishing both clinical and research articles about human neurology, neuroscience and related fields, and studies of other species that relate to the human nervous system. Formerly titled Journal of Contemporary Neurology, the new title reflects its new ownership and new approach to content, including a section for open peer review of articles.
About our new layout:
NCN is now composed of two sections: Articles Received and Articles Approved by Peer Review. Articles submitted to the editorial office are briefly reviewed to ensure that they meet minimal standards of preparation, grammar, readability and appropriateness for the journal. Having passed this review, they are posted to the journal in the Articles Received section. It is then expected that subscribers will read these articles and contribute criticisms and comments to the editor and Editorial Board via e-mail. These subscriber contributions will be reviewed by the Editor or a member of the editorial board to ensure that they meet minimal standards of preparation, grammar, readability and appropriateness for the journal. Having passed this review, they will be posted in the journal in a section entitled Forum -- Reviews, Comments & Criticisms attached to the pertinent article. These contributions from subscribers will be signed with the name and e-mail address of the contributor, except that unsigned reviews, comments and criticisms can be posted according to the judgement of the Editor. It is expected that this section of the journal, which essentially constitutes a forum discussion on each article, will be the most interesting and lively section of any journal in the neurological sciences.
An article may remain indefinitely in the Articles Received section. However, when sufficient and appropriate reviews, comments and criticisms have been received concerning an article, the Editor and the Editorial Board can decide to move the article to the Approved section. They may require revisions before this can occur.
