Offers links to limited selection of articles from the current issue, The Economist Review, which is a good monthly books and multimedia review supplement to The Economist, and several full-text and hyperlinked surveys. Access to the surveys online is particularly useful. Offers information on how to get summaries by e-mail of politics and business for the week. A well-organized site that is a good resource base in and of itself.

Links to international financial management associations, international financing and accounting networks, resources specific to country, international organizations, financial statements, budgets and documents, and other international resources. Good jumping-off point for resources on international finance generally. well laid out, with both frames and no-frames versions. Links to official government information are strong.
- The Development Assistance Committee of the OECD
This official site has publications links to many online documents, and to others that can be purchased, on topics related to development assistance and debt worldwide. Good general information on the DAC's activities, links to participating members' Web pages around the world, and a pretty good glossary of IPE and finance-related terms. Fairly decent set of links to other related sites, organizations, government sites, general links, lists of donor and recipient countries, some good statistics on the flow of development assistance broken down by a variety of categories online. Overall, a fairly good resource for information on a very specific topic.
- Economics Resources
Excellent megadirectory of economics resources. well organized, with annotated links to the best of the best economics sites, economics in general, business and economic numeric data (U.S.), international economics (including data), business and economics reference, and business resources. All links have good annotation, making this site a valuable economics/IPE jumping-off point.
- Economics Departments, Institutes, and Research Centers in the World
Maintained by Christian Zimmerman of Université de Québec à Montréal. Currently has links to 1,233 institutions in 83 countries. Index is organized by country, which helps to minimize download time. Included are economics departments, research centers, and institutes in universities, as well as finance ministries, statistical offices, central banks, think tanks, and nonprofit institutions where mainly economists are working. Useful resource for finding institutes, people, and official sites related to economics on the Web.
- Selected Economics Resources on the Web
Compiled by the University Library at the University of Michigan. Megadirectory with annotated links to a variety of topics related to economics, including general guides to Internet resources, working papers, journals and literature, electronic texts, data, news, economic departments, and subject-specific guides. Although the number of links is not enormous, the annotations are particularly helpful.
- International Trade Law Monitors--Finance (and Banking Related) Links
Long unannotated list of sites related to finance and banking. List is eclectic and not annotated, but it is large and diverse; may be somewhat frustrating as a jumping-off point, but is a good reference for those interested in finance and banking-related issues.
- International Financial Encyclopedia
Amazing and useful encyclopedia of financial terms, as well as an accompanying guide to management and technology. Useful set of symbols that helps pinpoint the nature of the term. Entries vary in depth, but overall a good desktop reference.
- International Finance Corporation (World Bank)
Official Web site of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Provides overview of IFC products and operations, press releases online dating back to 1993, overviews of projects by region, industry/sector, and developed/developing country status, plus online databases on more detailed aspects of development assistance. Contains an emerging market database online, which has a daily market feed, weekly market news based on a clickable regional map, and accessible back issues. Contains links to developing countries' stock exchanges. Although site has fairly high graphic load, it is a good site for developing finance or specialized area interest resources.
- International Monetary Fund
Official Web page of the IMF. Offers good background information on the IMF that might be useful for both research and teaching purposes (if taken with the appropriate analytical distance). Contains many online pamphlets and reports, chronologies, and organizational charts, all of which are detailed. Contains information on current lending practices, press releases going back to 1994, speeches, memoranda, and a list of publications, including all of the working papers and selected full-text articles. Useful official site.
- Infomanage--International Trade
Part of the Infomanage page. Megadirectory on international trade offering a relatively clear and somewhat useful jumping-off point to links on such diverse topics as Africa trade resources, Asia trade resources, Europe trade resources, former Soviet Union and E. Europe trade resources, Latin America trade resources, North America trade resources, investing resources, as well as some links to "international economy," currency rates, and international trade/treaties/organizations. The more general IR links are not comprehensive. Regional trade resources are the strongest aspect of site, though lack of annotation make it not especially useful as a regular jumping-off point. Good resource on regional international trade nonetheless.
- International Business Resources on the Web
Maintained at Michigan State University. Extremely valuable jumping-off point for virtually anything to do with IPE. Links are extensive and well annotated, and the organization is clear. Links to news and periodicals (both U.S. and international), journals, research papers and articles, regional or country-specific information (divided alphabetically among around 200 sites), international trade information, international trade leads, mailing lists, statistic data and information resources (27 links), government resources, and others. First rate jumping-off point for general IPE-related information.
- The Online Intelligence Project: International Commerce
Part of the online intelligence report. Interesting collection of annotated links that could offer a useful jumping-off point for quick IPE-related reference. Links to CNN Business News: Knight-Ridder Financial News, the Economist, the National Trade Data Bank, the World Bank, Fed World, and other sources of information. World Bank gateways are particularly useful as jumping- off points to the various agencies of the World Bank, which are often difficult to find collected together at a single site.
- Internet Resources for International Economics and Business
Maintained by Dr. Daniel Y. Lee of College of Business at Shippensburg University. Has links collected under categories such as international trade, international finance, exchange rates, balance of payments, international development, international trade law, international business, international accounting, international management, international marketing, international economics courses, syllabi, statistics, data, and software. Particularly good IPE jumping-off point because of the breadth of categories. Site is geared to an academic audience. Site on international trade, for example, has information on theory and policy and course material.
- International Economics Gateway
Basic site offering unannotated links under categories such as resource pages and data archives, international organization pages, national government pages, and corporate servers. Not particularly comprehensive. At best a secondary jumping-off point.
- U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration
Good links to regional and country trading activities, industry sector information, and trade statistics on U.S. trading activities with various regions of the world. Middle Eastern section, for example, was particularly extensive. The "Press Room" is a good source of official and up-to-date U.S. trade news.
- Trade Resources
Fairly comprehensive set of links under the general categories of data, industry, region or country, legal, trade assistance, and economic development. Each link is good jumping-off point for its respective topic. Downloadable bibliography of trade-related law journal articles at

Alphabetical set of eclectic links on international trade. (Where else could one find a link to the Baltic Sea Chambers of Commerce Association?) Some links have minor annotations, which are helpful. Not comprehensive, but a good bookmark for some hard-to-find sites.
- NAFTANET
Information on NAFTA, including links to databases and online statistics. Trade law links, news sources related to NAFTA issues, and a lengthy list of links related to international trade issues and sites, many of which are annotated. Good list of listserv discussion groups centered on international trade, NAFTA, and other IPE-related topics. Although I found the frames organization clunky, it does offer both English and Spanish access points.
- Nijenrode Business Webserver
Lengthy set of links under diverse IPE-related categories, such as business-related resources, business schools, economic data, statistical data by country, strategic management, business ethics, environment and sustainability, and some good regional sources of information on economics. Contains an excellent guide to stock exchanges and banks around the world.
- Resources for Economists on the Net
Maintained by Bill Goffe, at the Department of Economics and International Business at University of Southern Mississippi. Excellent gateway for general economics resources. Links are comprehensive and have superb annotations. First-rate jumping-off point for world and U.S. economic data, economics working papers, finances and financial markets, academic research institutions, and class resources.
- The International Political Economy Network
Good annotated list of links to IPE-related Web pages. Links to electronic journals and newspapers, an electronic directory of IPE-related Ph.D. dissertations, a listing of universities and colleges with IPE-related degrees, course syllabi from various IPE-related topics/courses. Good electronic archive of the discussions of its lively listserv, IPENET.
- The Trade Zone
Site proclaims to be the most comprehensive Internet site for resources having to do with international trade. Links to banks, business aides, business opportunities, conventions and meetings, chambers of commerce, government, embassies and consulates, U.S. export information and links, listservs, references, trade law, trade directories, trade resources, and trade statistics. Although site appears to be geared more for the actual entrepreneur than the academic, there might be some useful research links to organizations and information that would be difficult to find elsewhere, such as trade directories or chambers of commerce.
- WebEc--International Economics
Excellent jumping-off point with links to various broad aspects of international economics. Categories include international trade collections, data, news, journals and working papers, mailing lists, international factor movements, international finance, foreign exchange, international organizations, collections, and international treaties. Some links are annotated. Some good online collections of working papers on international trade and finance. The WebEc main site, at http://www.helsinki.fi/WebEc/WebEc.html#scm has links that range from general social science resources, to communication, information systems, economics and networks, economic systems, economic history, micro and macroeconomics, as well as international economics resources outlined above. Annotated links. Good jumping-off point for IPE/economics focus.
- Trade Compass
Although primarily geared to the entrepreneur, site provides online information from the U.S. Department of State reports on economic policy and practices of countries with which the United States does business. Some annotated international trade links and other directories, and something called "The World Trade Analyzer," which is supposed to provide trade flow statistics for 190 countries and regions of the world from 1980 to 1993 for over 2,200 commodities. I found it difficult to operate, but others with dedication and patience might have more luck.
- World Trade Organization
Official WTO page offers French, Spanish, and English entry. Background information on the WTO, multilateral trading in general, and the GATT. Contains the official newsletter from the WTO in portable document format (PDF), recent ministerial declarations and policies, summaries of decisions and agreements, and online reports. Site currently has some background information on the Singapore Conference, plus documents, speeches, and other official materials. Abstracts of WTO working papers are available from the Economics and Policy Analysis Division. Modest collection of unannotated trade links.
- Mark Bernkopf's Central Banking Resource Center
Directory of links and contact information to central banks and ministries of finance and economy around the world, from Angola to Zambia and most points in-between. Contains links to online essays, directories, financial and economic conferences, multilateral institutions, a massive set of links to online documents and related sites on electronic cash, financial news sites, central banking history, newspapers, and other central bank and finance and economic ministry resources. Invaluable site for anyone interested in central bank activities and IPE generally.
- Research Resources in Finance
From the Department of Finance at Ohio State University. Provides primary links to categories such as finance research centers, research journals, research papers, data, software, books in financial economics, locating financial researchers, and upcoming conferences and events. Within each category are extensive annotated links. Financial data links are particularly strong, though with a somewhat heavier emphasis on U.S. domestic finance than international. Good resource base and jumping-off point.
- Business Monitor Online
Information on worldwide legislation, regulations, corporate finance, offshore finance, market analysis, economic analysis, risk management, and worldwide business news. Geared more to the professional entrepreneur, but some useful links and information for researchers.
- The Information Economy
Primarily focused on the Òinformation economy,Ó but it does have links to international political economy issues. Links to Internet economics are well developed with good annotations. International category is a particularly good resource for information economy links around the world.
- Netsource Asia: International Trade Resources
Part of the Argus Clearinghouse directory. Links are not annotated and are geared more to the business person than the academic. Useful links to newsgroups, newspapers, magazines, journals, trade law, trade organizations, and other resources.
- Business Researchers' Interest
Comprehensive site with massive set of diverse links related to economics, but for international relations researchers, the international section would be of most interest. Here, links are to regional and world business and technology information, banks, currencies and markets, world affairs, and other related resources. Regional business and technology links are particularly strong. Good jumping-off point.
- Società Italiana degli Storici dell' Economia Economic History Links
Lengthy set of annotated links focusing on economic history. General category links include societies and associations, universities and institutions, museums, publishers, journals, hypertext papers, collection of papers, data archives, reviews of resources, mailing lists, and newsgroups. Useful site for economic history resources on the Internet.
- History of Economics Internet Resources
Basic but comprehensive set of links to the history of political economy. Site has general references links, classical political economy links (to sites with information on Ricardo, Marx, etc.), links to sites on Marxism, neoclassical economic thought, Keynesianism, organizations, and a list of forthcoming conferences. Interesting and fairly unusual site.
- WSN: The World Systems Electronic Conferencing Network
Contains a useful data archive, called the World-Systems Archive, with working papers, bibliographies, announcements, syllabi, and much other useful information. Conversations and announcements that are posted on the lively WSN electronic listserv are saved in the Mail Archive. Site is the home of the interesting electronic Journal of World-Systems Research.
