This site features an online databases that contains conference announcements, calls for papers, employment opportunities, and government documents. There is a keyword search function for the entire site, a good collection of online bibliographies, and a lengthy list of sites to women's issues online. A potentially good resource base and jumping-off point.
- IGC WomensNet
Part of the Institute for Global Communications, this site provides news headlines, action alerts, and features related broadly to women's issues. An annotated set of general links maintained by the IGC to a wide variety of environmental, human rights, politics, and social justice sites can be easily accessed from this page. Contains a set of WomensNet Links to organizations and resources on the Internet, all of which are well annotated. Good resource base and jumping-off point.
- WWWomen
Mega-directory of Internet resources modeled on the popular Yahoo directory, this site offers links to categories such as arts and entertainment, women in business, community and government, women and computers, diversity among women, women's resources, and science and technology. Although the directory might be too broad for some research purposes, the links to more social and political sites and resources (as opposed to arts, entertainment, etc.) on the Internet make it a worthwhile bookmark. The women throughout history link is comprehensive and unique. Links tend to have at least some annotations.
- Archives for Research on Women and Gender
Maintained at the University of Texas at San Antonio, this site has especially strong links to archives and primary resources found on the Internet in the broad areas of women and gender. Links are particularly strong for U.S. holdings, though links to archives from outside of the United States are included as well. A fairly good jumping-off point for access to primary materials on the Internet in this area.
- The Division for the Advancement of Women
Official site of the main UN policymaking body for women, the Commission on the Status of Women, this site provides links to UN activities in the area of women's rights, including links to the major UN conferences in Nairobi 1985 (a gopher site) and Beijing 1995 (a Web page). Has links to online draft resolutions, decisions, and conclusions reached by the commission as well as statements and press releases. Site also provides links to related Internet resources and conferences on the topic of women's rights. A good resource base for UN activities in this area.
- Feminism
Part of the Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG), this well-organized site offers extensive annotated links to worldwide feminism resources on the Internet. Site contains links to online bibliographies on women and international law, bibliographies on women's studies and feminism (including an extensive set of 14 bibliographies maintained at York University, which is a useful resource in and of itself), institutions and research centers, and listservs. Comprehensive, first-rate jumping-off point.
- Resources at Wesleyan University on Women and World Politics
Compiled in the fall of 1994 by students in a seminar on women and world politics, this site provides an extensive, well-organized annotated bibliography. Site is divided into general feminist theories and critiques of mainstream IR, women in defense and foreign policy, human rights, population and international law and organization. Annotations for the books and articles listed are well written and useful. A great online resource.
- WIDNET Women in Development Network
Site (with both French and English access) has long list of contact information (without hyperlinks) to worldwide organizations and groups working in the area of women and development. Also has some minor unannotated links to womenÕs studies resources. There is a good set of links to reference documents, such as those of CIDA's Policy on Women and Development, reports from UN conferences on women, World Bank reports, some of which have French, English, and Spanish access. There is a directory of organizations and individuals (called WIDNET Pool) involved in women's issues worldwide. Overall, this site is a good resource base.

From Louisiana State University, this site offers a list of women's and gender studies links to major Internet jumping-off points and other resources. Links are not annotated, nor are they well organized or comprehensive. Might be useful as a secondary jumping-off point.
