Requesting an Examination/Desk Copy

Each MIT Press textbook has its own webpage on this site. On each book's page, you will find a "Request Exam/Desk Copy" link. Follow this link to our online request form. If you do not see an Exam/Desk Copy request link on the book's page, contact your local textbook manager (below) for more information. Please note that our textbook examination request policies vary according to location--for complete details, please read on:

IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA:

Examination copies are available at the discretion of the MIT Press to qualified instructors of appropriate courses. There is a limit of two examination copies per semester. When making a request, please include course information, including course title, size, and level.

IN THE UK, CONTINENTAL EUROPE, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST (EXCEPT ISRAEL), INDIA AND PAKISTAN:

Inspection copies are available at the discretion of The MIT Press to qualified instructors of appropriate courses for a period of 60 days, after which:

1. the inspection copy may be retained as a desk copy if the book is to be adopted as the main course text (and the local bookstore will order 10 or more copies), or
2. the inspection copy may be purchased at a 10% discount, or
3. the inspection copy must be returned to us.

IN MEXICO, CARIBBEAN, SOUTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, ISRAEL, AND ASIA:

Examination copies are available at the discretion of The MIT Press to qualified instructors of appropriate courses.

Examination copies sent to Canada are complimentary. All others are sent on 60-day approval; if not adopted as the main text (i.e. at least 10 copies purchased by local bookstore), you may either return the book or purchase books at 10% discount.

We accept payment by VISA, MasterCard, American Express or by a cheque in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank.

A DESK copy is available when at least 10 copies have been adopted for a course. Your order for a free desk copy should be placed by the bookseller who is ordering the texts for your course.
