Catherine Woods, editor

An experienced publishing professional, Woods has spent her entire career in educational publishing, serving in a variety of leadership, operational, and editorial positions. Until recently, she was ​​vice president, content management, at Macmillan Learning, where she led the group responsible for digital transformation in project management and content standards. Woods previously served as publisher at Macmillan where she grew the social sciences list from $8 million to $65 million and established many influential and top-selling titles.

As executive editor at the MIT Press, Woods will advance the teaching, learning, and public understanding of essential topics in economics, finance, and business. In this role, Woods will commission approximately twenty-five projects each year with an emphasis on field-defining textbooks and monographs and high-impact trade books. She will project-manage approximately the same number of titles through the publication process annually.

Woods earned her B.A. at Fordham University, magna cum laude, and an M.A. in Publishing at New York University. After joining Macmillan Learning, she worked her way up the ranks, serving in editorial, operational, and leadership roles. Prior to that, she held editorial roles at CBS Publishing, Random House/McGraw-Hill, and HarperCollins.
