Andrew Kinney
Senior Editor for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering
I work with writers to produce fresh, provocative books that cross disciplinary boundaries and speak to a diverse readership. I seek trade projects in astronomy, physics, chemistry, the earth sciences, mathematics, statistics, and engineering for general readers from across the world. The books that I acquire bring cutting-edge research to new audiences, examine the political and ethical debates that accompany the latest breakthroughs in science, mathematics, and engineering, and that engage with profound intellectual, moral, and cultural questions.
Before I came to MIT Press, I was General Editor at Harvard University Press, where I acquired a number of award-winning books, including Nicole Fleetwood’s Marking Time (winner of a National Book Critics’ Circle Award), Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Nothing Ever Dies (finalist for the National Book Award and for a National Book Critics’ Circle Award), and Michael Tomasello’s Becoming Human (winner of the William James Book Award of the American Psychological Association).
