Knowledge Futures Group Collaborates on Met x Microsoft x MIT Hackathon

Last night, the Knowledge Futures Group, along with partners at MIT Open Learning, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Microsoft, hosted an invitation-only hackathon in Boston to add metadata to a collection of art that the MET has made openly available online. This data, including subject keywords, will allow researchers to use the artwork in new ways in their research and digital humanities projects.

According to MIT Open Learning, the project “imagines the new ways in which global audiences can engage with one of the world’s foremost art collections through artificial intelligence technologies. The collaboration is represented through a portfolio of prototypes, in various stages of development, each of which provides new perspectives on how artificial intelligence could transform future connections between people and art.”
