Earth System Governance

The Earth System Governance series is designed to address the challenge that fundamental and applied research faces in confronting the human influence on every biological and physical system on the planet: almost no species, land area, or part of the oceans has remained unaffected by the expansion of the human species. The task of earth sytem governance research is to develop integrated systems of governance that ensure the sustainable development of the coupled socio-ecological system the Earth has become. Books in this series pursue this challenge from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, at different levels of governance, and with a plurality of methods. Yet all further one common aim: analyzing current systems of earth system governance with a view to increased understanding and possible improvements and reform.
