STRESS (Structural Engineering Systems Solver) is a programming system for the solution of structural engineering problems on digital computers, The system is capable of executing the analysis of a large variety of structural types including two- or three-dimensional structures, pin-connected or rigid frames, grids and structures with nonprismatic members.
The input language is in the engineer's terminology rather than the computer's, and an input program for any of the structural types listed may be easily written without knowledge of computer programming.
The internal system itself is given in STRESS: A Reference Manual, with descriptions and flow charts of its components. Sample modifications to the system are also included.
The companion volume, STRESS: A User's Manual contains a complete description of the STRESS language from the viewpoint of the structural engineer. Sample programs are also given.
