Jessica Pellien is returning this summer to the MIT Press (MITP) as the Director of Marketing and Communications. From 2018 to 2019, she was MITP’s Executive Publicist and Communications Manager. In the newly defined role, Pellien will direct marketing and communications strategy for MITP and its books, journals, and digital programs. She will oversee the Press’s global marketing teams in Cambridge and London and serve on the executive leadership team, reporting to MITP’s director and publisher, Amy Brand.
“We’re thrilled to have Jessica rejoin the MIT Press as our new director of marketing and communications,” said Brand. “Her incredible depth of experience within the university press community, combined with her creativity and energy, make her the perfect choice to lead our marketing and communications efforts into its next era.”
Currently Director of Publicity at Fortier Public Relations in New York, Pellien brings a wealth of industry experience to the role. She began her career in the marketing department at Rutgers University Press and has worked in publicity and marketing positions at Princeton University Press, Georgetown University Press, and Rutgers University Libraries.
“I am over the moon to work with this incredible team of marketing and communications professionals to further the Press’s mission and to build upon its stellar reputation for innovation publishing strategies, field-defining scholarship, and one-of-a-kind design,” said Pellien.
Pellien begins as Director of Marketing and Communication in July 2021.
