The MIT Press has been a leader in open access book publishing for two decades, beginning in 1995 with the Open Access (OA) digital publication of William Mitchell's City of Bits. We continue to experiment with a variety of OA business models for select books.
All MIT Press journals support author-paid open access, and the Press is launching several Gold OA journals this year. The MIT Press has a long standing commitment to OA as part of its journals program and has hundreds of free articles on its website mitpressjournals.org.
The Press currently publishes two open access titles: Computational Linguistics and Asian Development Review and three Gold OA journals will be launched in 2016 and 2017: Open Mind: Discoveries in Cognitive Science, Computational Psychiatry, and Network Neuroscience
