Open Access Edition of John Palfrey’s Intellectual Property Strategy Launches on PubPub

Intellectual Property Strategy by John Palfrey is now available as an Open Access edition on the PubPub platform.

Published in 2011 as an inaugural title in the MIT Press’ Essential Knowledge series, Intellectual Property Strategy is now one of the first MIT Press titles to release as an open, CC-licensed edition on PubPub, an open authoring and publishing platform initially developed at the MIT Media Lab. The new edition of Intellectual Property Strategy on PubPub includes embedded points for discussion to encourage engagement within the PubPub community. Palfrey’s new questions take into consideration current events and changes in the field since the book was first published in paperback. In addition, the advent of the PubPub platform has made it possible for the MIT Press to offer several interviews and case studies together with the book’s full text. This supplemental content was previously only available in an enhanced iPad edition of the book.

Readers are able to author new conversations, curate new and existing texts to create their own novel perspectives, and participate with peers and broader public communities through a collaborative system with multiple options for privacy and filtering.

Among the MIT Press projects now on PubPub are Frankenbook, an interactive edition of Frankenstein: Annotated for Scientists, Engineers, and Creators of All Kinds (MIT Press, 2017) and the Journal of Design and Science (JoDS), which forges new connections between science and design and breaks down the barriers between traditional academic disciplines.
